In sunny Singapore, summertime is swelteringly hot and we got really few weapons at our disposal to beat the heat besides the usual ACs or fans. Here's is my secret recipe for the greatest refresher of all times (:P): Tzatziki sauce, also known as cucumber yogurt dip. This version of the recipe is an easy-to-make one, and I am quite confident that once you try it, you won't be able to stay away from it. Here's how you can make your Tzatziki sauce in less than 5-minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Peeled and grated Green Cucumber

Drain the water and use only the pulp. If you like it, you may use the drained water to make smoothies.

  • 1 qt Small Chopped Garlic Clove

You can increase the quantity of garlic as per your taste

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (strained yogurt)

If you are using homemade yogurt, be aware that this recipe is best with strained yogurt. If your yogurt is too watery, strain the whey (the liquid part of yogurt) using a fine strainer, colander, or a coffee filter. Refrigerate and allow the liquid to drain off the yogurt for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Use the thickened yogurt for the cucumber yogurt dip, and the whey leftover to mix the chapati dough (Indian flatbread)

  • 1 tbsp Timperio Gentile Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • 1 tsp Timperio Garlic & Rosemary Dressing

  • 1 tbsp Chopped fresh Mint leaves

  • 1 pinch Salt to taste

Procedure

  • In a bowl, combine the grated cucumber, chopped garlic, yogurt, mint leaves, salt, and mix well.

  • Add in Timperio Extra Virgin Olive oil and give a slight mix.

  • Add in Timperio Garlic and Rosemary flavored dressing on top, and enjoy this refreshing and tasty yogurt dip with your favorite chips, bread, or vegetable sticks such as carrots or celery.
