Saba fish is one of the popular seafood dishes served in Japanese restaurants. Saba fish is also called Mackerel. Saba fish are great for grilling or pan-frying as they have a good amount of fat content. Today I am preparing a lunch box for my kids and would like to share how fast and easy it is to make this pan-fry fish at home.
Get the ingredients ready - Rinse the saba fish fillets in cold water then pat try with a paper towel and cut them into halves. Sprinkle salt to taste on both sides of the fish and set aside for 10 minutes. - Cut Broccoli to smaller florets, i.e., bite-size florets. Then wash and soak with water for 5-10 minutes. -Peel the potatoes and cut them into dice, wash and soak for 5 minutes and be ready to steam
Pan fry Saba Fish Heat up the pan with 1 tbsp of EVOO, place fillets skin side down and pan fry for 3-4 minutes and turn over fry another 3-4 minutes. In between, add some shredded ginger to eliminate its fishy odor. After 10 minutes, remove the fish from heat and set it aside for serving
Boil the Broccoli Using the same pan (with remaining oil), add water and salt to bring the water to a boil over high heat. Add broccoli florets and cook until bright green in color and crisp-tender and it takes about 1-2 minutes. Then transfer the broccoli out from the pan and ready to serve with sesame dressing.
Steam Potatoes Fill the pot with water, boil the water. Steam the potatoes using a steamer for 10-15 minutes. Remove the potatoes from the steamer. Add salt and pepper, Timperio Basil Dressing Oil, and some parsley with mayonnaise. Ready to serve.
